PLANTING WORKSHOP BY THE FOOD PROJECT

A workshop was conducted by the FOOD PROJECT in one of the classrooms at the FORD SCHOOL. Participants were provided with manuals that covered everything from a description of various vegetables, growing seasons and even a grid layout to maximize available space.

Just for going to tonight's workshop attendees will receive in the mail packets of seeds for planting. An open invitation was also given to attend a big workshop later in the spring at the MONROE STREET community garden where FREE transplants will be available.

The virtues of raised gardens as an acceptable answer for urban gardening were promoted by all of the lecturers tonight along with other tips shared by the experienced members of the audience.

Additional information can be obtained about the FOOD PROJECT can be obtained by visiting their website, www.thefoodproject.org or by sending an e mail to buildagarden@thefoodproject.org.
